Learn to singEveryone can sing and it’s a very effective way to let off steam. The voice is extremely versatile, capable of producing diverse sounds and tones. It is an instrument which needs practice and exercise like any other. Our philosophy is that anyone can sing given the opportunity to explore and develop their natural style. A Fun, Direct and Meditative Way to Learn Music Singing offers you a means of creating music straight away without the specific knowledge and mind-to-hands coordination required by most musical instruments. You will be shown the basics of how the voice works so you can get started. Singing has been a means of meditation in many cultures. The act of singing is a physical exercise of the whole body that releases endorphins in the brain helping to relieve stress. Singing can be a great substitute for smoking! Skills and Styles We have created a course to incorporate the various skills needed by today’s singers. This includes the ability to play and read notated music, sing from lyric sheets and sing from memory. You will develop your singing agility and explore various genres. In addition you will learn essential microphone techniques, music theory and vocal harmony. Posture, confidence and stage presence are also important qualities to be worked on. Be warned- this is far more than a karaoke class! The great thing about choosing to sing is that you will discover a lot of inspirational material and styles to learn. In no particular order: Aretha Franklin, Christina Aguilera, No doubt, Jamie Callum, James Blunt, Robbie Williams, Shania Twain, Kylie, Abba, Eminem, Heather Small (M People), Alanis Morisette, The Beatles, Oasis, Coldplay, Elton John, Otis Reading, Elvis.
